Dragonfly is one of our rescue Peruvians. She is a fiery mare that scars most people, that is why she came to us. She does all kinds of riding, Dragonfly is very good at Sidesaddle, trail riding, exhibition, and performances. She has done a hand full of shows with us, but she never liked it.
Poppy is an amazingly sweet little mare. Poppy and Shotgun are half siblings that are home raised horses. They will both be starting riding training this year. Each of them lunges and have good ground manners. Shotgun is a very kind gelding, and we are looking forward to training him and his sister.
Opal was given to use as an unusable 4-year-old that would not respect people in any discipline, including ground manners. She has been retrained by Phantom Dragon Ranch to do any kind of riding, from western to jumping. This mare is now trained for sidesaddle, and she has become one of our horses that is used for giving people lessons. Opal has also been in parades, exhibition, and performances. Opal is one of the many rescues horses that have come to love and be loved at Phantom Dragon Ranch.
Brisa came from the same place that Opal came from. Since their old owner got Brisa when she was older and trained, she did not acquire the bad habits that Opal did. Brisa is now about 26-years-old and still going for trail rides and helping teach people how to ride. She knows Western, English, and Sidesaddle, she teaches people how to ride in all three disciplines.
Brisa and Opal
Duke knows how to ride Western and English, but he much prefers to drive. He was at an English riding school, but he did not like teaching young children how to ride in a ring. He is a good trail pony, but he will always much prefer driving. Duke is very willing to teach people how to drive, just not how ride.
All 4 of our miniature horses ride and drive. Our minis drive single, team, three ups, in a 4-up, and many other driving combos. Mr. Truck is our mini stallion he lives with and works with all three mini mares, his main teammate is Cherry. Mr. Truck & Cherry are our lead team in the 4-up and Clover & Blue Bell are our wheel team. Each of the minis have done many exhibitions and performances, and they are used to teach people how to drive, without being intimidated by the size of the equipment that the draft horses use.
