The Shire horse is the purest survival of an early type of horse known to medieval writers as the 'Great Horse.' The English 'Great Horse’ or British 'War Horse' was spoken of in high regard for their strength, courage, and aptitude for military discipline. They were called "The Great Horse" for their size and the weight of the soldiers in armor they could carry; 400 lbs. or more for rider and full armor. The Shire horses' strength, courage and aptitude is what makes them outstanding horses for multiple equine disciplines and a large variety of activities and events.

Maxx is one of the best horses that Phantom Dragon ranch has had the privilege of owning. Maxx does Western, English/ Dressage, Sidesaddle, Medieval gaming/jousting, Driving, Logging and so much more. He drives single, team, and in the 4-up, with all the mares. There have only been a few times that he has not been teamed with mares. Maxx is a great show and exhibition horse. He is also fun horse to hang out with in the corrals.

Sire: Illusion Farms Last Tango - Dam: Lazy S Midnight Bell
This fantastic mare is excellent as a riding or driving horse. She was trained as a hitch horse for the draft horse shows, and she loves it. Helga loves being a trail horse, and has lots and lots of excitement to do anything that is asked of her, even if she does not know what we are going to do.She is more than happy to do it.

Frigg is Helga's full sister. This mare was trained as a hitch horse just like her sister. Frigg will start learning how to ride this year, and hopefully she will be as eager as Helga is to learn under saddle work. Frigg and Hel (yes that is the team name) will still show at the draft horse shows as a team, but they will not be showing as hitch horses as much as they did with their old owners.
Frigg is on right Lilly is on the left.
